Ralph Lauren Marks 40 Years in Fashion
Ralph Lauren took a well-deserved extended bow Saturday night as he both presented and celebrated his 40th anniversary collection. Lauren sauntered down the runway at a tent erected just outside the Conservatory Gardens in Manhattan's Central Park to Frank Sinatra's "The Best Is Yet To Come." A crowd that included Sarah Jessica Parker, Martha Stewart, Diane Sawyer and Barbara Walters gave the designer a standing ovation. Fellow top-tier designers Donna Karan, Carolina Herrera, Diane von Furstenberg and Vera Wang, who once worked for Lauren, also were at the black-tie event. .
Meet the environment conscious Indian fashion fraternity
By Shweta Thakur, New Delhi, Sep 10 : With designers giving messages through their shows to conserve mother earth, rolling out eco-friendly clothing lines and creating bags made out of recycled plastic, the glamorous fashion fraternity seems all set to protect the planet. "It is wonderful to see that Indian designers are increasingly getting involved in working on issues of social and environmental concerns. This is in line with the Fashion Design Council of India's (FDCI) objective of generating environment-friendly products and increasing the use of recycled material," Rathi Vinay Jha, director general of FDCI, told IANS. The ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) organised by the FDCI saw designer Siddartha Tytler's collection 'Fusion Earth 3000 A.D' which, in his own words, was "all about our planet".
