Spice up arrangements for new season
Joyce Ewald plays with a couple of dried branches, trying to find the right spot for them in her clay vase. After that, she starts placing white silk poppies in between the branches. Borrowing from something she read, Ewald says, "it's about thrillers, spillers and fillers." Ewald, who has worked with florals for at least 50 years, is talking about floral arrangements. As homeowners transition from summer to fall, they might want to refresh their floral arrangements. Or if they have had the same floral arrangement for a couple of years, it might be the time to change it out for more updated silks. Elizabeth Maline, who lives in the Upper Valley, said she loves to decorate for the seasons and looks for new items for her swags and wreaths. "I just keep on weaving in new stuff and take stuff that is looking weather worn," she said.
